Stop What You’re Doing: Rihanna x Manolo Blahnik Is Happening
Fresh off another sell-out Fenty x Puma launch, Rihanna
is trying her hand at a very different kind of shoe collaboration,
designing a limited-edition, six-piece collection with legendary
footwear designer Manolo Blahnik.
Available May 5 in Blahnik’s New York, London, and Hong Kong stores, the line features denim, sequins, and bejeweled embroidery inspired by Rihanna’s hand tattoos.
“The day I see a woman in the street wearing my shoes … I am sorry for that woman because I’m going to literally run after her, shouting, ‘Stop! Selfie! Who are you? Where did you get them?’ I’m going to have a moment!,” Rihanna said in a press release.
That encounter alone may be worth the price of the shoes, which will range from $895 to $3995 (for the thigh-high, jewel-encrusted, garter-belted ‘9 to 5’ boot, whose name definitely does not reference desk job hours).
Per the singer, who may be the only celebrity to sound like herself in a PR blast: “Those boots are dangerous! If you’re trying to get back home to your bed, don’t wear them boots! You will get kidnapped in those boots, those boots are trouble.”
