“Shortcomings truly do cause us to “act out,” to overcompensate for the me we think we should be. Trying to measure up to the standards of others can be debilitating because we will undoubtedly fall short of their expectations. The beauty we can find in the midst of our own imagined failings is that God loves us just the way we are. He doesn’t think we’re too tall, too short, too fat, too thin, too dark, too light, too ugly, or too anything. He just sees His child struggling for affirmation, for the reassurance that we’re all right. And based on our relationship with Him, He gently reminds us that we are fearfully and wonderfully made. Deliberately crafted just the way we are to be a unique member of His divine family. One that He welcomes with open arms because all of our imperfections become perfect in the light of His love.”
